There’s much more to do in Long Beach, New York, than spend the day on its gorgeous beaches. From surfing to jetskiing, wakeboarding, flyboarding, scuba diving and kayaking, there isn’t a watersport that’s not available on the South Shore. You really can do it all during your beach vacation at the Allegria Hotel. Because we get many requests for different watersports in the area, here’s your guide to the different activities in the Long Beach, NY:
This is one of our favorite spots for watersports on Long Beach - and not just for its location. Located just down the beach from the Allegria Hotel, Skudin’ Surf and its immensely talented team offer surf lessons, wetsuit rentals, and boards. In the summer, they also do camps for both kids and adults. After your surf lessons at one of the East Coast’s top surfing destinations, try their SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) and SUP yoga, at sunset and the full moon. - Skudin’ Surf, Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, NY, (516)-318-3993
This is your headquarters for all things watersports. Located just across the channel in Island Park, LB Wake & Watersports offers jet ski rental, wakeboarding, and flyboarding - which if you haven’t tried before, you should. This is the one where two water-powered jet packs propel you above the water. At LB Wake & Watersports, it’s all about the extreme, which translates to tons of fun. And considering it’s just a ten-minute drive from the Allegria Hotel, what’s stopping you? - LB Wake & Watersports, 10 Broadway, Island Park, NY, (516)-415-0005
If something more laid-back is your style, head to Island Park for a kayak tour from Empire Kayaks. Here you can explore the waters of the South Shore, as well as its marshes, which are home to numerous species of wildlife. Empire Kayaks also does fishing tours for the anglers out there. If you haven’t tried fishing from a kayak before, you’re in for a whole new experience. - Empire Kayaks, 4 Empire Blvd, Island Park, NY, (516)-889-8300
The waters around Long Beach, New York, contain a plethora of shipwrecks - just ripe for the diving. Exploring those wreck sites is exactly what East Coast Wreck Diving does. Just 20 minutes from the Allegria, East Coast Wreck Diving visits famous sites like the Andrea Doria, the Italian luxury liner that sunk after a collision in 1956, and the U-869, a German u-boat sunk by American destroyers. East Coast Wreck Diving only dives on weekends, so make sure to plan ahead. - East Coast Wreck Diving, 11 Hudson Ave, Freeport, NY, (631)-327-3312
If you’re in the mood for something more romantic, Long Beach Charter Cruises by Captain Paul, are an excellent option. Starting out from Long Beach, these yacht cruises take you through Reynolds Channel and through the barrier islands of the South Shore. Sunset cruises, scenery cruises, and party cruises are available. - Long Beach Charter Cruises, 218 E Park Ave, Long Beach, NY, (516) 630-3030
