Leave Manhattan Behind and Come to Allegria Hotel this Winter

The world knows that New York City during winter is a magical place. The Rockefeller Center’s Christmas Tree, ice rinks, window displays, New Year’s celebrations, snowy urban landscapes… And dirty snow, packed streets, high tourist season and traffic. This winter and holiday season, leave Manhattan behind and stay at the Allegria Hotel to find out why Long Beach, NY, is a much better choice.

Local Winter Events

Long Beach, NY, organizes various events throughout the year - no matter how often you visit, there’s always something new to do. And winter is no exception.

On Friday, December 8 at 6:00pm, the Jingle Bell 5K Fun Run will take place in front of the Allegria, on Long Beach’s boardwalk, to collect toys for the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive. Bring an unwrapped toy and your favorite holiday costume! Sign up here and if you’re among the first 100 registrants, you’ll get a Santa hat or bells.

Have you heard of Jones Beach’s holiday tradition? The Magic of Lights is a 1.5-mile drive-thru light show with dozens of holiday characters and over one million LED lights. It’s open every day from dusk to 10pm Sun-Thu and 11pm Fri-Sat until December 31st. The experience wouldn’t be complete without a holiday village, a hay maze and Santa Claus.

Holiday Spirit

Long Beach, NY, has plenty of holiday spirit to share with everyone. Starting December, holiday lights displays will illuminate the boardwalk, Park Avenue, West End, East End and Canal Bridges. The Allegria Hotel is a proud sponsor and we can’t wait for our guests to look through their windows to see festive lights twinkling away.

Long Beach’s synagogues have come together once again to set up the Grand Menorah in Kennedy Plaza on Wednesday, December 13 at 6:00pm. The Menorah will be lit everyday from December 12 to 19 at 6pm, except on December 15 when it will be lit at 3:30pm. There will be live music, a life-size Dreidel ride and a Chanukah Gelt Drop.

Polar Bears Super Bowl Splash

Every year on Super Bowl Sunday the Long Beach Polar Bear Club and thousands of swimmers take it to the beach for their winter swim in the Atlantic Ocean. Why would they go through this madness, you might ask? To raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation, which helps grant wishes to children with life-threatening diseases.

Surfing

The most popular sport in Long Beach is practiced year-round - surfing season doesn’t stop when temperatures drop! Read our guide to surfing in Long Beach to find out what you need to ride the waves in the winter months and where to go.

December is just a few days away and with it come very special events that the Allegria has planned. Book your room now and take advantage of our special offers before it’s too late!
